Our International agents Alan and Paul Sayle recently visited Ireland to assist one of our Home n' Dry merchants, Star Fuels & Farm Supplies from Clonmel.
Alka Meeting
The visit kicked off with an all day Alka meeting with Star Fuel & Farm Supplies representatives. The discussions involved all aspects of Alka Systems including Alkalage, Alkagrain and their Alka compound feed range which has grown substantially in recent times. This was followed by an evening meeting, where they were joined by farmers to discuss the benefits of producing Alkalage.

Alkalage is produced by harvesting the whole mature cereal crop, with a forager fitted with a primary processing mill and treating with Home n’ Dry.
Alkalage is a unique combinable ready cereal forage which is high starch, high levels of structural and digestible fibre, alkaline and with increased protein. When incorporated into a balanced diet it will improve rumen health and function, leading to improved performance and overall animal health.
Farm Open Day
The trip also involved a farm open day kindly hosted by George/Kathleen and Richard/Rhonda Lowe in Adare, near Limerick.

The main topics on farm was Alkalage production, harvesting methods and the benefits of having the alkalinity from Alkalage included in the diet.
The open day was attended by many speakers included Ray Connolly (Star Fuels & Farm Supplies), Richard Lowe (Farmer & Contractor) and Paul and Alan Sayle (Sayle-Agri, Home n' Dry agents)
